Indian journalist Tarun Tejpal sentenced to 10 years for rape

An Indian court sentenced former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal to 10 years in prison for raping a former colleague, overturning his 2021 acquittal. The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court convicted him under Indian Penal Code sections for rape and sexual harassment, also imposing fines exceeding 1 million rupees. Tejpal, who denies the accusations, plans to appeal to the Supreme Court. The case stems from a 2013 assault at a Goa conference.
