Lok Sabha to take up Taxation Bill amid opposition protests

The Lok Sabha is set to consider the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman moving it for passage. The bill amends the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the Income-tax Act, 2025, and the Finance Act, 2026. Before that, MPs will debate a resolution disapproving the Income-tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026. Opposition MPs plan to protest over alleged Ram Mandir donation theft and police action on July 20, demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah.
