Congress MP moves adjournment motion over police action on students

Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Friday moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to discuss alleged police action against students during a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on July 20, 2026. He demanded a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and an independent judicial inquiry into the use of force, including lathi charges, pellet guns, tear gas, and water cannons. Tagore also urged withdrawal of FIRs against students and an apology from the Prime Minister if excessive force is proven.
