Typhoon Dim-sum added to Asia-Pacific storm name list

Hong Kong's contribution of "Dim-sum" has been added to the official list of tropical cyclone names for the Asia-Pacific region, alongside eight other new names introduced for 2026. The name, chosen from a public poll, reflects a shift toward using culturally familiar terms to raise storm awareness. The Typhoon Committee, backed by the UN and World Meteorological Organization, endorses names that avoid negative connotations.
