Hyderabad Police have warned women about a 'rent boyfriend' scam on Instagram, Telegram, and Facebook, where cybercriminals use fake or AI-generated profiles to lure victims into paying booking fees and deposits. Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar cautioned that scammers may use shared personal information for blackmail.
