Tamil Nadu MPs unite against delimitation, seek 543-seat freeze

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay led an all-party meeting of alliance MPs on Saturday that unanimously opposed the Centre's proposed delimitation exercise, demanding the current 543 Lok Sabha seats and the state's 39 seats be retained. The DMK and AIADMK boycotted the meet, calling it a farce. Law Minister R Nirmal Kumar alleged the BJP-led Centre was pursuing delimitation for electoral gains.
