Turkey says Egypt may join Mecca defence pact

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Egypt could join the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement in the next phase, as part of President Erdogan's vision to expand the pact beyond Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey. The defensive arrangement, which includes military exercises, names no common threat. Meanwhile, Iran and Oman agreed on vessel routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
