Nagasaki marked the 81st anniversary of the US atomic bombing on Sunday, with Mayor Shiro Suzuki calling nuclear weapons 'absolute evil' and warning that reliance on nuclear deterrence increases the risk of war. The ceremony, attended by representatives from over 90 countries, included a minute of silence at 11:02 am, the time of the 1945 attack that killed around 70,000 people.
