Government likely to refer FCRA Amendment Bill to JPC

Amid opposition and Christian group concerns, the government is likely to refer the FCRA Amendment Bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for detailed examination. The bill, introduced in March, proposes a Designated Authority to oversee foreign contributions and assets of organizations losing registration, and reduces maximum imprisonment for violations from five to one year.
