India's food regulator FSSAI has banned plastic and aluminium foil packaging for pan masala, allowing only tin or glass containers. The amendment, notified in the Gazette, restricts synthetic polymers and metallised layers, permitting paper and natural materials free from plastic. The move follows a 60-day public consultation.
