A parliamentary panel has recommended capping private hospital room charges in major cities at average three-star hotel tariffs to curb soaring medical costs. Citing a 2025 survey, it noted hospitalisation costs Rs 50,508 in private facilities versus Rs 6,631 in government ones. The panel also proposed standardised package rates and 'Continuum of Care' bundles, though hospital administrators questioned the comparison.
