Bengal urged to tap old strengths, new sectors for growth

An industry body has called on West Bengal to leverage its traditional strengths and emerging sectors to revive its economic growth. The state's GDP share has declined from 10.5% in 1960-61 to 5.6% in 2024-25. Recommendations include attracting Global Capability Centres, boosting manufacturing clusters, and developing logistics and housing infrastructure.
