The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the Madras High Court order that had quashed the Tamil Nadu government's decision to provide government jobs to relatives of 41 people killed in the September 2025 Karur stampede. The bench questioned the objection to the policy, asking who could question the government's decision to provide succour. The high court had earlier ruled that such appointments could open floodgates for similar demands.
