The BBC was warned by whistleblowers that true crime author Christopher Berry-Dee claimed to have obtained the missing clothes of Karen Hadaway, a child murder victim, which the broadcaster had lost. Berry-Dee, who denies allegations of sexual and violent offenses, told the Guardian he had the clothes and later burned them. The BBC closed the case without action.
