A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck western Sumatra late Saturday, hours after a 7.7-magnitude quake off Indonesia's Flores region killed at least 38 people and triggered a tsunami warning. The USGS said the Sumatra quake was centered near Pematangsiantar at a depth of 183 km. No tsunami warning was issued for this quake.
