Bar Council of India chairperson Manan Kumar Mishra apologised to law students in an Independence Day letter after backlash over the regulator's directives against NALSAR University of Law graduates. The BCI had earlier withheld enrolment of the 2026 batch and demanded details of students who opposed CJI Surya Kant as convocation chief guest. Following public outcry and Supreme Court observations, the BCI retracted the ban and dropped its inquiry.
