Devdutt Padikkal scored an unbeaten 131 on his return to India's Test side, helping India reach 288/2 on the opening day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. His century, on India's 600th Test and Independence Day, made him the first Indian to score a Test hundred on August 15.
