FIFA fires COO Kevin Lamour after World Cup sale dispute

FIFA has dismissed chief operating officer Kevin Lamour after he publicly opposed president Gianni Infantino's plan to sell part of the World Cup to private investors, calling it "the project of one person." The proposal was shelved days after Lamour's objections, but he was fired on August 17, 2026. Norwegian FA chief Lise Klavness condemned the move as "management by fear."
