The United States imposed sanctions on International Criminal Court President Tomoko Akane and senior trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye, announced by Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday. The measures, part of the Trump administration's campaign against the Hague-based court, freeze US-based assets and restrict access to the US financial system. The ICC, established in 2002, prosecutes war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity; the US is not a member.
