Scientists in California are using tiny solar-powered radio telemetry devices, attached to monarch butterflies with eyelash glue, to track their movements. The project aims to understand how the endangered butterflies use overwintering groves and nearby nectar sources, informing conservation efforts. The USFWS and partners tagged monarchs at three sites in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties in November 2025.
