OAS votes to hold emergency meet on Nicaragua

The Organization of American States voted 29-1 to convene an urgent meeting of foreign ministers over Nicaragua, declaring that representative democracy 'no longer exists' there. The move follows constitutional reforms proposed by President Daniel Ortega and co-President Rosario Murillo that would extend the presidential term and bar opposition candidates. Nicaragua left the OAS in 2023.
