Iranian parliament speaker Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf said Friday that Iran must plan to overcome "unjust sanctions," a day after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced what he called the toughest sanctions ever imposed on Iran. Qalibaf, speaking in Baghdad, accused the U.S. and Israel of economic and "cognitive" warfare and called for stronger Iran-Iraq trade ties.
