In 2025, Indian state assemblies passed over 600 bills, with about 30% cleared the same day they were introduced. Karnataka passed 84 bills in 34 sitting days, the most of any state, and referred only 2% to committees. This trend, seen across states, weakens legislative scrutiny and accountability.
