Kazakhstan holds snap parliamentary election

Kazakhstan votes on August 23 in a snap parliamentary election expected to strengthen President Kassym-Jomert Tokayev's rule. The election follows constitutional changes that replaced the bicameral parliament with a single-chamber Kurultai, and the new Adilet party, led by Tokayev's allies, is favored to win a large majority.
