IITs Report 45 Student Suicides in Five Years, 28 from SC, ST, OBC

Official data shows 45 student suicides across 23 IITs from 2020-21 to 2024-25, with 28 victims from SC, ST, and OBC communities. IIT-Hyderabad reported the most deaths at seven. Separately, an alumni group recorded 171 suicides or unnatural deaths over two decades, 70% in the last 10 years, amid recent student deaths and protests.
