On Sept. 22, 2006, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency launched the Hinode satellite to study the sun's magnetic field. The spacecraft observes solar eclipses every orbit during its summer eclipse season. Hinode continues to provide unprecedented data on solar activity.
