President Murmu Returns Bengal Anti-Goonda Bill Over NDPS Overlap

President Droupadi Murmu has returned West Bengal's anti-Goonda Bill for reconsideration, citing overlap with central anti-narcotics laws. The Centre flagged that Section 2(d)(iii)(B), which includes NDPS Act offences in the definition of 'goonda', may conflict with the PITNDPS Act, 1988, and create repugnancy under Article 254. The state is reviewing the note and may re-table an amended bill.
