India moves beyond phone assembly to component manufacturing: Vaishnaw

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said India is shifting from smartphone assembly to making components and materials inside devices, including battery cells, cameras, displays, PCBs and connectors. He cited synthetic graphite, electrolyte additives and acetylene black as new domestic battery inputs. India is now the world's second-largest phone maker, with 330 million units annually.
