Ethiopia's New Rebel Alliance Aims to Oust PM Abiy

A new armed alliance of seven groups, including the TPLF, Fano, and OLA, formed on September 20 to remove Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and establish an inclusive transition. The groups coordinated with Eritrean and Sudanese military representatives. TPLF and Afar forces have already advanced in northern Ethiopia, threatening the Djibouti highway. Previous similar alliances have fractured over territorial and command disputes.
