South Africa's foreign minister, Ronald Lamola, warned at the UN that US sanctions on the International Criminal Court as an institution could fundamentally disrupt its operations. Washington has already sanctioned ICC head Tomoko Akane and senior lawyer Abdoulaye Seye, and is expected to target anyone cooperating with the court. The Netherlands, as host, is leading efforts to dissuade the US.
