Four Iraqi airports — Baghdad, Najaf, Erbil and Sulaimaniyah — have halted all flights to and from Iran after new US aviation sanctions on companies dealing with Iranian airlines. Iraq was a top destination for Iranian carriers, and passengers must now travel overland for at least 12 hours. The UAE and Qatar have also restricted flights to Iran.
