Lavrov Backs India, Brazil for Permanent UNSC Seats

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov backed India and Brazil for permanent UN Security Council seats at the UN General Assembly, while opposing additional permanent seats for Western countries, naming Germany and Japan. He called for broader representation of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Mauritius and Portugal also endorsed India's candidature as calls for Council reform intensified.
