Acute Kidney Injury Affects 31% After Paediatric Liver Transplantation

A meta-analysis of 17 retrospective cohort studies found that acute kidney injury occurred in 30.7% of paediatric liver transplant recipients. Multiple perioperative and patient-related risk factors were identified, including preoperative hepatic impairment, coagulation abnormalities, and intraoperative blood loss. Early risk assessment and targeted interventions are needed to reduce AKI risk and improve outcomes.
