Pope Leo Urges French Bishops to Root Out Abuse 'Scourge'

Pope Leo called on French bishops to root out the "scourge" of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church during a private meeting at Lourdes, urging "the greatest vigilance." The remarks came before he celebrated Mass for thousands and was due to meet abuse survivors. A 2021 inquiry found about 330,000 children were abused in France over 70 years.
