Supreme Court Urges Centre to Frame Statutory Safeguards for Minors on Social Media

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Centre to examine a statutory framework ensuring social media platforms comply with Indian laws on minors, who cannot legally enter contracts. The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, acted on a plea by NGO Just Rights for Children Alliance, seeking to prevent platforms from contracting with under-18s without parental consent and identity verification.
