DRC Ebola outbreak tops 8,000 cases, nearly 4,000 dead

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has recorded 8,067 Ebola cases and 3,901 deaths, a 48.4 percent fatality rate, in its worst outbreak yet. Health workers face community mistrust and violence, including the killing of a ruling-party official in Butembo. The WHO warns the outbreak is far from over and could surpass West Africa's 2014-2016 toll.
