Maharashtra's Chief Electoral Officer S Chockalingam has asked the Election Commission to grant Electoral Registration Officers greater discretion during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. He proposed an 'Exempted from Hearing' option on ECINET to waive personal hearings when documents are sufficient, and flexibility to accept additional documents beyond the standard list. The EC will decide on the changes.
