The Supreme Court on Tuesday questioned the government over massive markups on cancer and other drugs, proposing a uniform 16% cap on retail margins. The bench noted a cancer drug sold to retailers at ₹3,520 was priced at ₹22,427 for patients. The government assured it would find a balanced solution. The matter is posted for further hearing on October 12.
