Romania PM Bid Fails, Snap Election Risk Grows

Romania's Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan lost a parliamentary confidence vote on Wednesday, securing only 182 of the 233 votes needed. The far-right AUR largely boycotted the ballot. President Nicusor Dan will nominate a new candidate on Monday to avoid snap elections, which Romania has not held since 1989. The EU and NATO member faces its highest public deficit and inflation.
