Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was granted parole Thursday after serving seven years of her 10-year sentence for the 2018 murder of Botham Jean. Guyger, who is white, fatally shot Jean, a Black accountant from St. Lucia, in his apartment, which she mistook for her own. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles approved her release over objections from Jean's family.
