British paratrooper killed by explosion in Ukraine, coroner rules

A coroner has ruled that L/Cpl George Hooley, 28, died from multiple injuries sustained in an explosion in Ukraine on 6 December 2025. He died in a Kyiv hospital three days later, becoming the first British service member killed in Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. The Ministry of Defence called his death a tragic accident.
