Kathy Hochul appointed Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor to oversee the investigation into a woman's allegation she was gang raped at a Cornell University fraternity house. The case was initially closed without charges in 2024, then reopened after the woman filed a civil lawsuit. Hochul said she lost faith in the local district attorney's handling.
