Yemen's internationally recognised government says it killed or wounded 1,540 Houthi fighters in nearly 500 operations over 24 hours, most in Taiz, halting a Houthi advance. Government forces also closed the al-Houban crossing linking Houthi-held territory to Taiz city, citing security concerns after an infiltration attempt. Fighting has escalated since a 2022 truce collapsed in July.
