A father and son who worked at a Mississippi smoke shop have been charged with distributing controlled substances linked to the suspected kratom overdoses of two University of Mississippi students. Prosecutors say the shop sold kratom derivatives to the students, who were found dead in September. Kratom, an opioid-like herb, is unregulated by the FDA and legal in some states.
