Hindi on medicine covers sparks language row in Tamil Nadu

Government medical college hospitals in Karur and Coimbatore have stopped issuing medicine covers printed with Hindi, English and Tamil after opposition criticism. Former DMK minister TRB Rajaa said the three-language policy was reaching Tamil Nadu hospitals. Officials said the covers were printed in Erode in December 2025 without instructions, and pharmacists warn migrant workers may struggle with dosage instructions.
