South Sudan Aid Crisis Deepens as Food Stocks Run Low

More than one million vulnerable people in South Sudan could lose life-saving food and nutrition assistance by October as funding shrinks, the World Food Programme warns. Food stocks in Malakal have fallen from 10,000 metric tonnes last year to under 300 tonnes, while about 3,000 refugees and returnees cross weekly from war-torn Sudan.
