CJI to Examine Plea to Recall Split Verdict on CEC Selection Law

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has agreed to examine an application seeking recall of a September 23 split verdict on whether challenges to the 2023 law on appointing the Chief Election Commissioner should go to a larger bench. The plea cites possible bias because Justice Satish Chandra Sharma's son is a standing counsel for the Election Commission in Madhya Pradesh. A curative petition has also been filed.
