Gaza playwright Ali Abu Yasin, 62, has won the Writer of Courage 2026 award from English PEN in London. He kept writing through Israel's bombardment of Gaza, documenting life and loss after theatre became impossible. Abu Yasin recently left Gaza for a French artist residency and attended the ceremony in person.
