India Proposes Strict Curbs on Advertising Prescription Drugs

The Centre has proposed amending the Drugs Rules, 1945, to extend advertising restrictions on Schedule H, H1 and X medicines to retailers, wholesalers and distributors. The draft, notified on September 28, 2026, also covers GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro. Stakeholders have 30 days to submit objections.
