India Rejects UN Concern Over Delhi Protest Detentions

India dismissed UN human rights office concerns over mass detentions during Saturday's Delhi protests as "misplaced" and "unwarranted interference." Hundreds were detained as police blocked a Cockroach Janta Party march to Jantar Mantar demanding electoral reforms and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The UN urged India to respect peaceful assembly and release arbitrarily detained individuals.
